Space plants 4-6 inches apart to allow for proper bulb development. Water regularly to keep the soil moist but not soggy, and mulch to retain moisture. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer to promote healthy growth. Thin out any weak seedlings to ensure strong, uniform bulbs. Harvest when the tops start to yellow and fall over, typically 90-110 days after transplanting. Cure onions in a warm, dry place before storage.
