Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost date. Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep in seed trays or pots with well-draining, fertile soil. Keep the soil warm (70°F - 85°F/21°C - 29°C) and consistently moist until germination, which takes 7-14 days. After the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed to at least 70°F (21°C), transplant seedlings outdoors in a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Space plants 18-24 inches apart to allow for good air circulation and growth. Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer to encourage strong growth and fruit production. Sweet peppers thrive in warm temperatures, so ensure they receive plenty of sunlight and warmth. Harvest when the peppers are firm and fully ripe, typically 70-85 days after transplanting.
