How to Grow Prince Gustaf's Eye Tulip Seeds:

1. Planting Time:

   - Tulip seeds can be started indoors or outdoors, but they are typically grown from bulbs rather than seeds for quicker results. If growing from seeds, plant them in fall, as tulip seeds need a period of cold stratification to germinate properly.

   - If you're starting with bulbs, plant them in the fall, 6–8 weeks before the first frost, for spring blooms.

2. Stratification (for seeds):

   - Cold Stratification: Tulip seeds need a cold period to break dormancy. Place seeds in a moist, sealed container in the fridge for 10-12 weeks. After stratification, sow the seeds in early spring.

3. Soil:

   - Tulips prefer well-drained, fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (pH 6.0-7.0). If planting from bulbs, mix in organic matter like compost for best growth.

4. Planting Depth:

   - For bulbs: Plant them about 6–8 inches deep, with the pointed side facing up. Space them 4–6 inches apart.

   - For seeds: Sow seeds on the surface or just barely cover them with a light layer of soil, as they require light to germinate.

5. Light:

   - Tulips, including Prince Gustaf's Eye, thrive in full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Ideally, they should receive 6–8 hours of direct sunlight per day.

6. Watering:

   - Water thoroughly after planting. Keep the soil consistently moist during the growing season, but avoid overwatering, as tulips are susceptible to root rot.

7. Germination (for seeds):

   - After cold stratification, tulip seeds will usually germinate in 10-20 weeks under the right conditions, though it can take a few years for tulip plants grown from seed to bloom.

8. Care After Planting:

   - Fertilization: Tulips benefit from a balanced fertilizer during the growing season, especially after the foliage begins to emerge.

   - Deadheading: After blooming, remove spent flowers to encourage the plant to focus on bulb growth rather than seed production.

9. Flowering:

   - Prince Gustaf's Eye tulip will bloom in the spring, typically from late April to early May, depending on your climate. Tulips grown from bulbs usually bloom faster than those grown from seed.

Additional Tips:

- Mulching: Mulch around the tulips in the fall to protect them from extreme temperatures and help retain moisture.

- Overwintering: If you’re in a cold climate, mulch the bulbs in the fall to protect them from freezing.

Tulip Prince Gustaf's Eye is a visually striking and unique tulip variety. Growing it from seeds requires patience, but it’s a rewarding and beautiful addition to your spring garden!
