Sow Indoors or Outdoors: You can start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost, or directly sow outdoors in early spring or late summer. Space seeds 1 inch apart and cover lightly with soil.
Germination: Keep the soil moist and at a temperature of 55–70°F (13–21°C). Germination usually occurs in 7–14 days.
Thinning: Once seedlings are a few inches tall, thin them to 6–8 inches apart for proper growth and air circulation.
Sunlight and Care: Cos lettuce prefers full sun but will tolerate partial shade in hotter climates. Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, and mulch around the plants to keep weeds at bay.
Little Gem lettuce is a compact, crisp romaine variety known for its sweet flavor and tender texture. Perfect for small spaces or containers, it’s a great addition to home gardens for fresh salads.
