1. Sow Outdoors: Chia seeds can be sown directly outdoors after the last frost when the soil is warm. Plant seeds about 1/8 inch deep and space them 6–12 inches apart in rows about 18–24 inches apart.
2. Germination: Keep the soil consistently moist. Germination takes 7–14 days. Be sure to water regularly, especially during dry spells.
3. Sunlight and Care: Chia prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It's a drought-tolerant plant once established but will thrive with moderate watering. Mulching can help retain moisture and keep weeds down.
4. Harvesting: Chia plants grow tall (up to 3–4 feet), with flowering and seed production happening in late summer to early fall. Harvest the seeds once the flower heads turn brown and dry.
Chia seeds are known for their high nutritional value and can be used in smoothies, baked goods, or as a topping for various dishes.
