Centaurea Cyanus - Polka Dot
Centaurea Cyanus - Polka Dot
1. Sow Indoors: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost. Use a light, well-draining seed-starting mix and scatter the seeds on the surface. Press them lightly but don't cover, as they need light to germinate.
2. Germination: Keep the soil moist and maintain a temperature of 65–70°F (18–21°C). Germination typically takes 7–14 days.
3. Transplant: Once the seedlings are large enough to handle and the danger of frost has passed, harden them off and transplant them outdoors. Space plants about 12–18 inches apart.
4. Sunlight and Care: Centaurea prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Water regularly but avoid overwatering. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering.
Centaurea Cyanus 'Polka Dot' is a striking variety of cornflower with a mix of pink, white, and purple blooms. It’s ideal for borders, cut flower gardens, or attracting pollinators.
