Carmen - Tagetes Patula
Carmen - Tagetes Patula
Sow Indoors: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost. Use a light, well-draining seed-starting mix and lightly press the seeds onto the soil surface, as they need light to germinate.
Germination: Keep the soil moist and maintain a temperature of 70–75°F (21–24°C). Germination typically takes 7–14 days.
Transplant: Once the seedlings have a few sets of leaves and the danger of frost has passed, harden them off and transplant them outdoors. Space plants about 10–12 inches apart.
Sunlight and Care: Tagetes patula (marigolds) prefer full sun and well-drained soil. Water regularly but avoid waterlogging. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming.
Carmen marigolds are known for their vibrant, deep orange-red blooms and are great for adding color to borders, flower beds, and containers. They also help repel pests in vegetable gardens.
