Sow Indoors: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost in a seed-starting mix. Lightly press the seeds into the soil surface and cover with a thin layer of soil.
Stratification: For better germination, you may want to cold-stratify the seeds. Place them in a moist paper towel in a plastic bag, then refrigerate for 4–6 weeks before planting.
Germination: Keep the soil moist and maintain a temperature of 65–75°F (18–24°C). Germination can take anywhere from 3–6 weeks.
Transplant: Once seedlings have a few sets of leaves and outdoor temperatures are frost-free, harden off and transplant into the garden, spacing 12–18 inches apart.
Sunlight and Care: Plant in full sun or partial shade. Blackberry lilies prefer well-drained soil and moderate watering. They are drought-tolerant once established.
Blackberry lilies are known for their unique, orange-red flowers that resemble a combination of lilies and blackberries. They’re a beautiful addition to borders and wildflower gardens.
