Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost, or start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep in well-draining, fertile soil. Keep the soil moist until germination, which usually occurs in 7-14 days. Once seedlings are established, thin to 8-12 inches apart. Bachelor's buttons prefer full sun and well-drained soil. Water regularly but allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. These flowers are drought-tolerant once established. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage more blooms.
